Kathryn Bernardo is Kathryn Chandria Manuel Bernardo in real life. She was born on March 26, 1996 in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. She went to OB Montessori Center Inc., an Italian-based school in the Philippines, for her early education. She is also an active member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo.

Kathryn started her showbiz career in the TV series "It Might Be You" as the young Cielo, the main character of the series which was portrayed by Bea Alonzo. Kathryn portrayed the character as an impoverished orphan in Cielo's childhood.

A year after, another small role was given to her in "Krystala" as Bulinggit. In the following year, she portrayed the role of the young Carina dela Cerna in the hit series "Vietnam Rose", which was portrayed by veteran actress Maricel Soriano. It was also in 2005 when she was included in the original cast of the popular children gag show "Goin' Bulilit". She became one of the mainstays of the show until 2010 when she reached the age of 12 and "graduated" from the show.

In 2006, she again portrayed another "young" character in the TV series "Gulong Ng Palad" as the young Mimi Sandoval and in "Maalaala Mo Kaya: Palaisdaan" as he Young Lina. In the span of 2006 to 2007, Kathryn portrayed the role of Maya in "Super Inggo", a hit fantasy series in ABS-CBN. She played here as the love interest of the main character of the series. This series had its sequel in an animated series titled "Super Inggo at ang Super Tropa" which was considered as the first 100% Filipino animated series.

"Pangarap Na Bituin" was the next project for Kathryn. She played the role of the young Chorva which was portrayed by Alex Gonzaga. She then starred in various "Maalaala Mo Kaya" episodes like "Blusa" and "Karnabal" and so with the episode in "Your Song: You Know It's Christmas". She then played as the young Anna Abella in "Magkaribal" which was portrayed by Gretchen Barretto. She also portrayed the young Jenny in "Endless Love" which was portrayed by Marian Rivera. This was the only program so far she did in ABS-CBN's rival network, the GMA Network.

Kathryn Bernardo's biggest break came when she did the remake of "Mara Clara", an original television series which was aired in 1992 of the same title. She portrayed the role of Mara opposite another rising star Julia Montes as Clara. Kathryn's role was originally portrayed by Judy Ann Santos and Julia's role was that of Gladys Reyes. The series was received warmly by the Filipino audience and the star of Kathryn and Julia began to shine brightly. The series received very high figures in the TV ratings game beating those in the other stations in the same time slot. The success of the series paved the way for a movie of the same title and still Kathryn and Julia on the helm.

Due to her fame in "Mara Clara", she was invited to join the cast of "Shoutout!", a teen-oriented variety show. She also joined the cast of ASAP and "Growing Up". Her role in "Maalaala Mo Kaya: Ensaymada" showcased her acting prowess and many critics lauded her performance in that episode.

"Princess and I" is another series which featured Kathryn in the lead role along with Gretchen,Albert Martinez, Daniel Padilla, Enrique Gil and other big time cast. The series also garnered high numbers in ratings. Some scenes were taken in the Kingdom of Bhutan where the cast stayed there for more than two weeks to take important part of the program.

After the "Princess and I", Kathryn will be doing the role of the young Roxanne Manrique which will be portrayed by Kris Aquino.

"Princess and I" is a prime time series aired in ABS-CBN which is one of the biggest projects of Kathryn after "Mara Clara". She is joined by three leading men namely Enrique Gil, Khalil Ramos and Daniel Padilla.

The series originally titled "You're Always in my Heart" but was then later changed to "Princess and I". It was one of the grandest teleseryes of the Kapamilya network for the year 2012 since they had to shoot some parts of the series abroad, particularly in Bhutan, where the story happened.

Kathryn portrays the role of a long lost princess in the Kingdom of Yangdon (in Bhutan). She was brought to the Philippines as a child through the will of the main villain(ess) in the series played by Gretchen Barretto. It was about her struggles searching for her true identity and love.
